Meet the Cast of The Winter's Tale! Spotlight on John St. Croix (Polixines)
You may recognize John St. Croix from Classics on the Rocks' production of Twelfth Night last summer. In that show, John played a wildly hilarious Fabian whose "Who, me?" face was an inspiration to us all and may have caused an actor or two to laugh out loud (in character, of course).
His role this summer as Polixines, the King of Bohemia is considerably heavier, and we can't wait to see what he does with it.

What's your favorite thing about your hometown?
Walmart - literally it's like the town watering hole. You will see old friends, ex-lovers and even snag a deal or two!
What does your ideal Saturday look like?
Usually I'm working my day job on Saturdays, so all I ask for is a stress-free, relaxing day off, binge watching all my favorite trashy reality shows and I'm happy!
What's your favorite role you've played, Shakespeare or otherwise?
CB in Dog Sees God, It was my first and only time since to play the lead in a show and while I may have been too green at the time to really appreciate it for what it was worth; it taught me so much about being an actor that I still take with me each and every day.
What excites you about The Winter's Tale?
Getting to say these wonderful words and tell this amazing story, especially in Classics on the Rock's fashion, where the only thing that really matters is what's written on the page.
Featuring a mad king, an exit pursued by a bear, and three of Shakespeare's strongest female characters, The Winter's Tale is a lesser-known, lesser-told story that gives us both tragedy and comedy, love and loss, winter and spring.
The Winter's Tale performs July 20, 21, 27, 28 at 7pm and July 29 at 5pm at the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory. Tickets may be purchased in advance here.
About Classics on the Rocks:
Shakespeare doesn't have to be complicated and it's our mission at Classics on the Rocks to make classical theatre accessible, exciting, palatable, and fun for everyone - whether you're brand new to Shakespeare or have read the canon cover to cover.
At Classics on the Rocks, we believe that just as whiskey doesn't need anything more than rocks to tame it's bite. Shakespeare doesn't need fancy concepts, modernizations, frilly costumes, or big sets to make it relatable. All you need are talented actors who trust the text and tell the story. It's classics served simply on the rocks.
