Meet the Cast of Twelfth Night! Spotlight on John St. Croix (Fabian / Sea Captain)

June 30, 2017

Shakespeare doesn't have to be complicated and it's our mission at Classics on the Rocks to make classical theatre accessible, exciting, palatable, and fun for everyone - whether you're brand new to Shakespeare or have read the canon cover to cover.

We're proud to be producing Shakespeare's quintessential comedy - Twelfth Night - this summer! Filled with mistaken identities, love triangles, and drunken fools - our cast is been hard at work crafting a gut-busting, raucously delightful production.

Earlier this week, we met with the lovely cross-dressing Viola (Rachel Purcell) and the intense Olivia (Anna Lewein) for their take on the brilliant bard and Twelfth Night.

Today, we'd like to introduce you to John St. Croix playing the hilarious and perfectly snarky, Fabian.

Name: John St. Croix

What character do you play in Twelfth Night?

Sea Captain / Fabian

Where are you originally from?

Camden, South Carolina

When you're not onstage, what can you be found doing?

Managing hotel concierges for my day job.

What intrigues you most about Shakespeare?

I love figuring out the jokes, sometimes on the first read-through it's not very funny, but once you put together the situation and the language you can't stop laughing!

What character is on your Shakespeare "bucket list" to play?

Hamlet is always at the top of my bucket list, I think it's the actor's version of a runner's marathon.

Favorite Shakespearean quote:

"A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool." As You Like It - Act 5 Scene 1

Twelfth Night is a classic tale of twins shipwrecked and separated in a foreign land. Both assuming the other has perished - search for a way to survive in this strange new world. In doing so, they find themselves quickly caught up in the shenanigans of a  world filled with clowns, pirates, and lovers.

Twelfth Night performs July 14, 15, 21, 22 at 7pm and July 23 at 5pm at the Alchemical Theatre Laboratory.  Tickets may be purchased in advance here
