Classics on the Rocks was born out of two loves a love for Shakespeare and a love for whiskey. We believe that just as whiskey doesn't need anything more than rocks to tame it's bite, Shakespeare doesn't need fancy concepts, modernizations, frilly costumes, or big sets to make it palatable. All you need are talented actors who trust the text and tell the story.
In 2013, when we were testing the concept of our company - Artistic Director William Downes knew he wanted a rocks glass to be the focal point of our logo and to have our company name scribbled nearby. And so, a good friend mocked up a hand drawn logo for us. That image that has served us very well over the last four years, as we've grown from one-night only staged readings to fully staged productions.
As our company evolved it became clear that it was time for a newer, cleaner, logo that reflected not only the rocks glass but the important role that Shakespeare plays in everything we do.
